Tocotrienols / The Vitamin E Factor Advantage

What is the E Factor Advantage? The Vitamin E FactorTM supplies natural tocopherols plus tocotrienols formulated using the latest scientific and clinical research to provide quantities that will help to promote wellness and prevent disease.

The Vitamin E FactorTM provides the whole vitamin E family of tocopherols plus tocotrienols in their natural unesterified form as found in our food. The Vitamin E FactorTM is particularly rich in the natural d-gamma-tocopherol and tocotrienols. These overlooked members of the vitamin E family promote cardiovascular health and skin health, help prevent some cancers and other diseases. While some of the functions of the non-alpha tocopherols and tocotrienols are similar to those of alpha-tocopherol, others are unique and cannot be performed by alpha-tocopherol. For a complete discussion of the science please read The Vitamin E Factor book by Andreas Papas (HarperCollins, 1999).

Tocotrienols

Most vitamin E supplements, however, contain only alpha-tocopherol and very often the synthetic esterified form dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate. Others which claim to supply tocopherols, contain alpha-tocopherol but extremely small amounts of the other tocopherols and tocotrienols. They may claim to have the whole family of vitamin E, BUT read the label to be careful (click here).

What do tocotrienols do?

  • A clinical study in humans indicates that a mixture of tocopherols and tocotrienols reduces the rate of narrowing of the carotid arteries. In forty percent of the patients this mixture actually appeared to reverse the condition.
  • Tocotrienols slow down the growth of breast, colon and leukemia cancer cells in test tube and animal tests.
  • Tocotrienols slow down the production of a key liver enzyme in the synthesis of cholesterol. They also appear to help the liver clear more of the bad LDL cholesterol.
  • Tocotrienols protect HT4 nerve cells from the damage caused by the activation of a kinase enzyme that may kill these cells.
